Sock Update

I have made one sock and started on the second. Here are the badly photographed pictures. The bib was used to make a contrast between the sock and the table. I have decided to not make jaywalkers and have gone for a design I found in a local knitting magazine called Creative Knitting. The are rib and cable socks still in patonyle 4ply. I thought someting different would be nice.

Also in non sock knitting news I thought I would publish a photo of Sam and his blankie. It is one my Mum knit for him. It is in Shepherd baby 3ply in a mint green colour. The name of it is Traditional pram blanket. He loves it and I think it looks great. She should be proud.

Sockapaloooza Started

I have started my socks for my sock pal. I so hope she likes them. I am using Patons Patonyle in the colour #4034, which I think has been discontinued.
The wool is a variagated stripe in the colours purple, lime green, orange and pink.
My sock pal didn't state any preferences so I hope she will like them.
I certainly do. I am using the Jaywalker pattern and loving the way the pattern comes out in the stripes. I sure is a change from knitting baby clothes for Sam.

First Post

Hi there. I have started this blog as I have decided to participate in the sockapaloooza going starting shortly at Alison's site which is at the following URL.

I am a beginner sock knitter and I am very much looking forward to making my first proper pair of socks. Now to decide what pattern to use. The only problem is living in New Zealand we are very limited in our choice of sock yarn. No Lorna's laces, no Crystal palace. I long for funky variagetd yarn...sigh.
